Services
Most people are not aware of the kinds of services that fire fighters provide other than putting out fires. See Prevention to learn about what they do at the Prevention Bureau.
Structure Fires:
The Engine Company consists of engines that are taken to house or commercial buildings that are on fire. On this truck there are ventilation tools and tools to get inside the building as well as hoses that they hook up to fire hydrants.





Wild Fires:
The Tank Company consists a tank truck that is filled with water and is brought to wild brush fires where there are no fire hydrants.

Hazmat:
The Hazmat Company consists of one truck in the entire Maui County. This truck is brought to hazardous scenes.






Car Extractions:
​In the case of a car accident happening the fire department closest to the accident will show up for medical assistance. Fire fighters will also perform something called a car extraction to help rescue victims that are trapped in their car.





Medical Assistance:
Fire fighters are always first responders. When other services are busy fire fighters are always available and can get to places fast. If a family member is having a serious medical problem, call 911 and the fire fighters will provide medical attention until the ambulance arrives.



Ocean & Mountain Rescue:
The Rescue Company consists of one engine in the entire Maui County. The fire department also has a helicopter that they use to find people who are lost or in distress on the mountain or at sea.
